Anna Ma’s main practice areas are corporate legal affairs, corporate compliance, and corporate investment and financing.

Anna has over two decades of experience as a practicing attorney and corporate general counsel serving in China’s foreign investment field. Anna was the in-house counsel with IBM, Dell and PepsiCo China together for seventeen years, and ever worked for Masons China Office and the Jones Day San Francisco Office. Anna has represented clients ranging from multinational corporations to PRC state-owned enterprises, advising clients on operating business in accordance with the law and regulations, and advising clients on investment and financing and dispute resolutions. In recent years, Anna dedicates herself to assisting Chinese clients in lifting bans from the World Bank Group’s sanctions and has undertaken certain cases.

Representative Works

• Represented several Chinese companies in applying to the World Bank Group for the lifting of integrity compliance sanctions
• Represented Shanghai local government regulators in compliance risk investigation related to financial leasing, asset management and private equity funds
• Provided compliance management effectiveness assessment for securities companies in accordance with the requirements of the China Securities Regulatory Commission
• Provided services for the construction of compliance management systems for a number of enterprises, including contract management and ESG contract specification services for enterprises
• Commissioned by industry leaders and the Ministry of Justice to write two editions of the Auto Finance Compliance Guidelines
• Represented companies in cross-border data compliance review and responded to FCPA compliance investigations
• Reviewed legal compliance risks of public disclosure of overseas listed companies
• Provided legal support for many TMT investment and financing projects on the Fund of Funds platform of the government's Venture Capital Investment in Science.
