On January 14, 2020, the "2020 Commercial Cooperation & Chinese New Year Reception" was successfully held in the Okura Garden Hotel Shanghai. The event was organized by JunZeJun (Shanghai) Law Offices and Shanghai Ya-Holly Business Consulting Ltd., and co-organized by the Administration commission of Jiaxing Economic and Technological Development zone, the representative office of the Chengdu Municipal People’s Government and the government of Chenghua District of Chengdu. This was the 7th transnational exchange meeting held by JunZeJun.

 

Representatives of a number of foreign consulates were present at the reception, including the consul general of Turkey in Shanghai Mr. Sabri Tunc Angili, the consul general of the Republic of Fiji in Shanghai Ms. Yok Yee Chan, the chief consul of Japan in Shanghai Mr. Todoriki, the executive consul general of Mexico in Shanghai Mr. Carlos Valera, the executive consul general of Romania in Shanghai Mr. Crisan Gheorghe Ioan, the commercial consul of Portugal in Shanghai Mr. Mario Quina, and the commercial consul of Hungary in Shanghai Ms. Maria Kovacs-Magginger, etc.

Participants also included local government representatives, such as the Jiaxing delegation consisting of the vice director of the Jiaxing economic and technological development zone Mr. Yu Yaming, the director of the Jiaxing investment promotion center Mr. Qiu Donglai and other officials, and the Chengdu delegation under the lead of the general director of the Chengdu investment promotion bureau Mr. Li Changwen and the governor of the Chenghua district of Chengdu Mr. Pu Fayou.

In addition, dozens of guests were the representatives of Japanese, Turkish, German, South Korean, American and Spanish institutions and enterprises, and hundreds of guests representing large state-owned companies, listed companies and private enterprises were present at the event. The attendees totaled up to 200 people. 

 

JunZeJun senior partner Mr. Wang Zhengyang gave a keynote speech, introducing JunZeJun’s performance in 2019. Mr. Wang said, the One Belt & One Road strategy would advance in a high-quality direction; China’s door to openness would not close, but would open wider and wider; the newly enacted Foreign Investment Law would ensure a higher level of freedom and convenience of trade and cross-border investment; as one of the largest partnership law firms in China, JunZeJun would keep providing excellent legal services to its clients and simultaneously be committed to building an international platform for domestic and foreign government agencies and enterprises to cooperate.

 

The vice director of the Jiaxing economic and technological development zone addressed the reception, expressing the following idea: increasingly more enterprises tend to invest abroad under the background of economic integration and globalization; as the birth place of the Chinese Communist Party, Jiaxing has obvious advantages in terms of its  geographical location, infrastructure, industrial policies and natural resources, and its favorable business environment and investment promotion policies are very attractive to investors. Furthermore, Mr. Yu thanked Mr. Wang Zhengyang for the opportunity to communicate with so many enterprise representatives and invited them to invest in Jiaxing. 

 

Mr. Li Wei represented the Jiaxing delegation to give a detailed introduction of the business environment and investment policies of Jiaxing in English, fully demonstrating Jiaxing’s competitive edges as a city located in the Yangtze River Delta and its desire to attract more investors. 

 

Mr. Pu Fayou, the Deputy Secretary and governor of the Chenghua district of Chengdu introduced the advantages of investing in Chengdu and Chenghua. Mr. Pu said, as the " Land of Abundance" whose natural environment and culture had been highly praised since ancient times, Chengdu had become the largest metropolis of Western China and the country’s bridge to the Middle Asia, West Asia and Europe; Chenghua had developed into a high-tech area of Chengdu due to the well-known universities and scientific institutions located therein, and had become world-famous for its panda base; Chenghua was a preferred place to do both investment and research due to its rich natural resources and preferential policies. 

 

The general legal consultant of West-East Gas Pipeline Company, PetroChina Mr. Fu Wenkui also gave a speech. Mr. Fu said, the West-East Gas Pipeline Company, affiliated to PetroChina, was responsible for the production, operation and construction of the natural gas pipelines within the scope under its management; the West-East Gas Pipeline company and JunZeJun law offices had cooperated very well in the past several years, and JunZeJun lawyers had provided efficient and reliable legal support for the West-East Gas Pipeline company by virtue of their professional expertise and excellent organizational capability.

 

The general secretary of the Shanghai-Japan commercial and industrial club Mr. Nakamura, the vice president of the MUFG Bank (China) Mr. Motoue and the chief consul of the Japanese Consulate in Shanghai Mr. Todoriki addressed the reception successively，speaking highly of the high-quality legal services provided by JunZeJun. These Japanese speakers all mentioned that the calmer relationship between Japan and China would benefit both countries by improving the investment and communication environment and enable both sides to give full play to their respective strong points. 

 

The commercial consul of Portugal in Shanghai Mr. Mario Quina also spoke at the reception. He stressed that China, the most important business partner of Portugal,  had invested more than 9 billion euros in his country in the fields of energy, finance and so on; against the backdrop of economic globalization, Portugal would definitely increase exports and maintain friendly cooperation with China, and Chinese lawyers were expected to play a greater role in this process.
